Anaconda Challenge - Watch the video and complete the task in your Maths book. You can do it more that once if you want too.

Camping Project - Go through what you will be doing in the Camping Project with a parent or adult. Ask them any questions you might have. We will talk about and start the Project tomorrow.

When writing a story, it’s really important to begin with something that will grab the reader’s attention straight away.

This week, I would like you to have a go at writing some exciting, attention grabbing story beginnings.

You can ask your parents to help you on one or two of them. Let your imagination flow!
The booklet is due on Friday, the 21st of February.

Reading
Talk about the reading comprehension strategies of - Prior Knowledge and Making Connections with an adult.

Maths

Watch this video with your parents and try some addition sums of your own using this strategy. This is the strategy I will ask you to use in your upcoming Maths Camping Project. There will be bigger numbers to use so we need to get practising.You can try 4 by 4 digit sums if you want to.
For example 3424 + 4523=

A Year 4 Project

A sense of belonging is a vital part of a healthy learning environment in which people can flourish.

To develop and foster a sense of belonging for the students in our class, we ask that each individual class member takes home this project each week to be returned the following Friday.

The task involves bringing three or four special, important, prized or valued items that really mean a lot to the student.

Examples could be:

·      A photo of someone special

·      A special item found/purchased on a holiday

·      A favourite book

·      Special toy/teddy from early childhood

The student is asked to explain the significance of the item. The idea is that through this experience, a sense of empathy will develop towards other people’s backgrounds and lives.

Please do not bring in items of great value.

We look forward to everyone’s participation in this unique Year 4 experience.

Only do the activities for How Words Sound. If you're not sure about PhotoBooth leave it out for next week.

Do the rhyming dictionary activity on the next page of your spelling book.

Recording Homework for Parents

Hi Year 4 Parents,

The students will use their diaries for writing their homework/prep work they have completed for that night.

Because we have the Class Blog we do not need to write up homework. Instead the children use the diary as a journal of what they have completed each, individual night.

Your job- check that there is a significant about of truth in their diary and then PLEASE sign it each night that homework is set. This models to the children that we are all a team around them and that we communicate clearly to each other which supports them in their learning.

Below is an example of what the students might write. Please support them initally with this task.
